Obit for Ron!
On August 14, we lost our beloved father , Ron Laidlaw. He passed away quietly and without pain. All of the family adored him for his own ways. Christian and Jane and their children Vibe and Johan, and Lillemor and her children Anders and Maja, all living in Denmark; and Peter and Susan with his daughters Hanna and Ulla. In his lifetime, Ron was a news reporter, photographer and the former News Director at CFPL television in London. His career in news commenced as a wartime photographer where he met Vibeke in Copenhagen, Denmark ,married and settled in London. Despite his age, he was never a senior. He never ceased to astonish his friends with his energy, interest and competence in the digital world . Everything was documented in photography and writing – his passion! The Internet was his way to maintain daily contact to his friends and family here and abroad. Ron valued his friendships and maintained them with care. We thank his friends for their returned care. A very special thanks goes to Michelle, Mike and Kiera for their openhearted friendship that was so very meaningful to our father and to us. It was his strongest wish in the last years of his life to leave us in this way; in his home and garden which he loved dearly and where we all grew up. And we all loved coming home to visit and we all surely miss Ron's way at our gatherings. Ron did not want a funeral so there will not be one. He also wished that no flowers be sent – his way. Donations may be sent to either cancer or heart disease causes. We found this note on his computer : "hey. . . its not a big deal. . . I've been expecting it for a long time and I've had One helluva life. . . . you celebrate that. . . not cry about it!"
